Ana-Mari is a Senior Associate in the Construction & Infrastructure team in Melbourne.  The majority of Ana-Mari’s legal experience has been in ‘front-end’ construction and infrastructure work but she has also been involved in a number of construction disputes. 

Prior to entering law, Ana-Mari worked for over 10 years as a project manager and project architect on commercial and industrial projects.  She specialised in project management and contract administration and managed multi-disciplinary teams.  She was also Associate Director and General Manager of a CBD architectural practice.

In 2009 she became a Green Star Accredited Professional.  Ana-Mari has a strong interest in ‘green issues’, renewable energy and sustainable developments and the legal issues arising.

Ana-Mari’s background has given her a solid understanding of traditional and alternative project procurement methods and the allocation of risk for key stakeholders and the role of key stakeholders’ methods.

Ana-Mari is also fluent in written and spoken Spanish.

Major projects in which Ana-Mari has been involved include:

  • Victorian Desalination PPP – 8 month secondment to a bidding consortium for the Victorian Desalination PPP project, working closely with the client’s general counsel, but having primary responsibility for the drafting and negotiation of a range of project documents including D&C contract and consultant’s agreements.
  • Ararat PPP – drafting and negotiation of consultancy agreements on behalf of a bidding consortium.
  • Sydney Desalination Project – project documentation in connection with subcontracts during the operational phase.
  • Southern Seawater Desalination Project – advising a Spanish joint venture in connection with general commercial issues and the incorporation of an Australian subsidiary.
  • Australian Synchrotron – documenting the novation of 35 subcontracts.

Ana-Mari’s other experience includes:

  • Australian Standard Form Contracts – drafting, advising and negotiation of all major forms of procurement contracts for a range of client types and projects including industrial, commercial and multi storey buildings.
  • Consultancy Agreements – acting for major national and international engineering and architectural consultants in the drafting, advising and negotiation of professional services agreements for numerous landmark projects including 2 major PPPs.
  • General contract and commercial – general construction and infrastructure contract and strategic advice, including contract reviews, legal and commercial risk analysis and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Dispute resolution in relation to EOT claims, delay costs, termination and SOP claims.
