Our energy and resources team is highly experienced in advising clients on all issues across a broad range of industry sectors including oil and natural gas, coal seam gas, coal, electricity, water and renewable energy such as solar, tidal and wind.

We have extensive knowledge and understanding of the regulatory framework and both the business and legal issues affecting the energy and resources sector.

  • Moomba to Sydney Gas Pipeline - advising APA Group on all NSW gas transportation arrangements for the Moomba to Sydney Pipeline including long term GTA’s with AGL and other shippers and power station off take agreements

  • Gloucester Basin Coal Seam Gas - acting for Lucas Energy in relation to all aspects of the development of its coal seam gas assets in the NSW Gloucester Basin, including exploration, production, transportation and compression activities and associated infrastructure

  • Lucas Energy’s investment in Sydney Gas Ltd – advising Lucas Energy on its $42 million investment in Sydney Gas Limited together with the arrangements for the provision, by Lucas Operations, of technical and drilling services to Sydney Gas

  • Mt Stuart, Newport and Jeeralang Power Stations - acting for AES Corporation in relation to the sale of its Mt Stuart power station to Origin Energy and its Newport and Jeeralang power stations Babcock & Brown

  • Illawarra Coal Supply - acting for BHP Billiton on the negotiation of a long term coal supply agreement for the supply of coking coal to  a large steel manufacturer

  • Energy Supply - advising BlueScope Steel on its gas and electricity supply agreements for its operations in Western Port, Victoria

  • Petroleum operations in Egypt - acting for Pan Pacific Petroleum in relation to its disposal of petroleum licence holdings in Egypt

  • German Creek Coal Mine Methane (CMM) Power Project - advising on and drafting all aspects of the project to build a 32 MW power station utilising coal mine methane

  • Yulara CNG Power Project - advising on this project (12 MW).  It was the first project of its kind in Australia

  • Moranbah North Coal Mine Methane (CMM) Power Project - negotiating and drafting the project documentation for a 45MW project for Energy Developments Limited under a turnkey with Clarke Energy using CMM

  • Transgrid Cable Tunnel Project - preparing innovative decision path flow charts to assist project and site management in a contract administration role for a major infrastructure BOOM project in the electricity supply sector

  • Smorgon Steel Group Metals Processing Plant Upgrade Project – advising on project delivery method and preparing project documentation for the design, construction, installation and commissioning of special purpose heavy industrial equipment

  • Murrin Murrin Nickel/Cobalt Mining and Processing Plant Project - advising on risk audit and dispute risk management services and conducting commercial negotiations to minimise ultimate liability risk in respect of the design and performance of equipment in a major mineral processing application in Western Australia

  • BP Clean Fuels Project - acting for the contractor in respect of its claims for recovery of losses for acceleration, delay, breach of contract and misrepresentations arising out of a major mechanical services upgrade for a petrochemical plant
