Ian practises media, entertainment, intellectual property, competition, consumer and corporate law with emphasis on the film, television, radio, telecommunications, advertising, publishing and on-line industries. He has served on a number of private and public boards and is the Deputy Chair of the peak Australian Government screen agency, Screen Australia and the President of the board of the Victorian Government screen agency, Film Victoria. He is also the managing partner of Holding Redlich’s Sydney office.

The clients he regularly advises include television and radio networks, technology (including renewable energy) companies, production and post-production companies, distributors, film studios, publishers, advertising agencies and marketing consultancies, and financiers, investors and providers of venture capital. Ian is also a panel member of the Advertising Claims Board which adjudicates disputes between advertisers.

He is listed as one of Australia’s best lawyers in the 2011 Best Lawyers list for Australia in the category of Entertainment. Recent motion pictures for which he has provided legal services include “Knowing” (produced and directed by Alex Proyas) and “Sanctum” (producer Andrew Wight; executive producer James Cameron).
