Harold heads our Commercial Dispute Resolution practice group. He practises commercial litigation with particular emphasis on corporate, commercial, contractual and trade practices disputes.

Harold is an Australian pioneer in the use of alternative dispute resolution processes. He is a specialist accredited mediator and has developed specialised negotiating techniques designed for the resolution of commercial disputes.

He was nominated by general counsel as one of “Australia’s Best Lawyers As Judged By Their Clients” in The Australian (September 2010).

He has extensive experience in complex commercial litigation and his recent experience includes acting for:

• Transurban Limited in relation to a public company takeover
• Integral Energy in a complex software dispute involving trade practices misrepresentations
• Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in complex professional indemnity and commercial disputes
• BHPB Limited in relation to a contamination dispute
• Ernst & Young in relation to HIH Royal Commission
• Dr Carmen Lawrence former Federal Minister of Health in the Marks Royal Commission
• The Government of Papua New Guinea in an international arbitration on the Sandline contract
• City of Sydney in major intellectual property dispute in the Federal and Supreme Courts
• Numerous matters in the Commercial List of the Supreme Court relating to corporate and shareholders disputes
