Michael Byrom | Partner | Brisbane

Michael was admitted as a solicitor in March 1982. His 30 years of experience working in legal practice covers a broad range of property and
property related transactions and projects. Michael’s practice ranges from complex conveyancing transactions through planning, development and titling. In addition Michael has undertaken extensive work in retail, commercial and industrial leasing transactions. He has led and supervised substantial projects including for major regional shopping centres, commercial office buildings, subdivision projects and mixed use and strata developments.

His legal experience includes easement disputes, claims for adverse possession, resumption and compensation claims, planning and environment appeals and advice including condition appeals, vegetation management, road closures, information request responses and advice on planning legislation.

Some of the projects in which Michael has been involved include Orion, Springfield; Wintergarden shopping centre and Hilton Hotel, Brisbane, Central Plaza One Brisbane, Regent (Hoyts) Brisbane, and various south east Queensland land subdivision projects.

Relevant to property related work Michael also advises on stamp duty for property transactions, land rich corporations and relevant trust interests.

Michael is a regular presenter and chair for leading legal education providers in the areas of due diligence, leasing and planning and environment law.

Michael also contributes significantly to the firm’s pro bono efforts and is a keen supporter of the annual Chain Reaction Charity Ride which takes place in
March each year and covers 1 000 kilometres of cycling.
