He is an Accredited Specialist in Commercial Litigation with the Queensland Law Society Inc. (QLS). His areas of experience include commercial contracts, property and leasing, intellectual property, mining and mining services, insolvency and competition and consumer law. Toby has particular interest and expertise in use of alternative dispute resolution processes and he uses his ADR skills to assist clients to focus on commercial, strategic resolutions to their disputes. Toby is an accredited mediator in both Australia and the UK and he has conducted mediations in both countries. He is a member of the QLS Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee and conducts mediation training for the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators Australia (IAMA). Prior to joining Holding Redlich, Toby worked for the UK’s largest dispute resolution provider, the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), advising lawyers, businesses, government departments and other organisations about the effective use of dispute resolution processes such as mediation, expert determination and independent intervention. Toby also has experience in financial services and regulation, having worked in the enforcement division of the UK’s Financial Services Authority (FSA). His major projects included market abuse and insider dealing investigations into senior managers of international listed companies, hedge funds and “insider dealing rings”.
