Sylvia is a member of our Commercial
Dispute Resolution practice group and has considerable experience
in the area of managing complex commercial disputes and in the
processes of alternative dispute resolution. She has also had
extensive experience in defending professional negligence claims
in the areas of audit and general accounting services for one
of the "Big Four" accounting firms. She has advised
on:

global partnership issues

the defence of complex audit negligence
claims

the defence of professional negligence
claims arising out of sale of business

the defence of professional negligence
claims arising out of the provision of consulting advice in
respect of the acquisition and implementation of a large computer
system
Sylvia's experience also includes:

obtaining an interlocutory injunction against
a shareholder in relation to breaches of an anti-compete clause
of a Shareholders' Deed

securing stays of execution of judgment
on behalf of the former partners of Nelson Wheeler in relation
to the Duke Group litigation. The stays were granted after applications
to the Full Court of the Supreme Court of South Australia and
the High Court of Australia

acting for a global advertising agency
in respect of a corporate restructure in New South Wales pursuant
to the provisions of the Corporations Law dealing with Schemes
of Arrangement
-
successfully defending an oppression action
on behalf of a national manufacturing concern in the Supreme
Court of Queensland
-
acting successfully for several insureds
in respect of a policy of professional indemnity insurance against
their insurance broker and insurer for negligence and for breach
of contract in the Supreme Court of South Australia
-
defending an international manufacturing
concern in relation to a product liability claim in the Supreme
Court of Victoria
